Over the last few months the current Spoon members have been working tirelessly to create a foundation that you can be apart of. We are now getting close to the official Spoon launch and we are actively seeking volunteers and officials within the Spoon organization.
In the last month Spoon has elected the inaugural set of Board Members. These active Spoon members include Simeon Bateman, Nate Beck, Garth Braithwaite, Jonathan Campos, and Jeff Tapper. Along with the Board we have project leaders set out among the different areas of the Spoon organization.
At this point we are looking to do 3 key hires along with filling many specific and important volunteer positions.
Spoon Officers
Spoon is actively hiring a President, Treasurer, and Secretary for the Spoon foundation. Currently these positions are volunteer positions but shortly that may change due to the mounting interest in Spoon. If you are applying for these positions all you need to do is send in a resume, what position you are applying for, and letter stating why you are interested in that position. This information needs to be sent to board@spoon.as.
Many of you reading this are probably wondering what the role of each of these positions en-tales within a foundation. The President is charged with running the day-to-day operations of a foundation, following decisions that have been voted on by the Board members. The Treasurer is charged with keeping track of the foundation’s cash flow and reporting this information to the Board. Finally the Secretary is in charge of keeping track off meeting minutes and the organization of important documents. Each of these positions are vital to the foundation.
Applicants must have their information submitted to the Spoon Foundation Board by August 12th and the Board will return with a vote by August 19th. During this time the Board may return with additional questions and possibly require phone interviews of the final set of applicants.
Spoon Volunteers
If you are interested in volunteering for Spoon please send an email to volunteer@spoon.as along with some information about yourself and your expertise. We are actively searching for individuals with expertise in Compilers, ActionScript ByteCode and Dependency Injection paradigms in other languages (Java, .Net, etc.). We are also looking for ActionScript developers that are wanting to get their hands into the Flex SDK. Even if you don’t feel like you are ready to take on heavy development lifting we are always looking for document writers, testers, and volunteers of all sorts. If you have any other talents and feel you can be of help don’t hesitate to contact us!
Spoon project leaders will quickly assign you to a group and additional information about our needs will be given out completely. Within Spoon we never hold back information, we just might not have it all written down.
