Apache Flex Community Revue December 2012
One year in the making… As we approach the end of our first year outside of Adobe, it is hard to see all the progress that has been made by the community since it was announced that Adobe was no longer directly supporting the product. If you get a chance, take a quick peek at the Apache Mailinglist stats for the last 30 days — our project has one of the busiest lists hosted at Apache — with an average of 111.6 messages per day. I know personally I have a hard time keeping up with all the cool things that everybody is doing. Make sure to check out the highlights below to get a glimpse of what has been going on in the last month… Not only is the project moving forward full steam ahead, but we are at the point of graduation. What does...
Apache Flex Community Revue November 2012
Marching on and gearing up Spring melted away, Summer sizzled, Fall slipped away and now we are at Winter’s doorstep. I only know this because all of my local stores have been decorated with Christmas stuff for the last 3 months The Apache Flex team has been getting into the groove and moving things forward. As of the 13th of November, the “Apache Flex SDK Installer” has been approved and posted to the website, work on Apache Flex 4.9.0 is progressing nicely, and steps are being taking to graduate as a top-level Apache project. Apache Flex Highlights from October Apache Highlights: Lots of bug fixes are being committed. 40 bugs were submitted by the community, and 25 were fixed by both the community and Apache Flex committers. Most of the other tasks are...

Apache Flex Community Revue October 2012
Lots of great community work has helped move Apache Flex forward this month. We have come together on both technical and important marketing initiatives. The quarterly Apache Incubator Board Report is online including some perspective on Flex. Thank you for your efforts and consideration. Another great month! Apache Flex Highlights from September Apache Flex Work: & Adobe Notes: Falcon – Adobe made some important code and trademark donations. For example, the Falcon source was donated and Gordon Smith is helping move the work on it forward. Gordon would love to have more help working on Falcon if you have the time and talent to contribute. Mustella – The Flex SDK testing suite was also donated this month. Peter Ent has been asking for volunteers to...

Is It Fall Already? With the first release of Apache Flex™ 4.8.0 out the door, we’ve been hard at work making sure that everybody has a good experience using them. Om and Erik de Bruin have been hard at work to make the “Apache Flex Installer” which is a cool tool that makes an IDE-compatible version of the SDK. This will reduce the number of steps that are required to get up and working with the Apache SDK. Additionally, Adobe has been hard at work getting the final legal clearance for their new “Falcon” compiler. This is nearly the same compiler that is being introduced in Adobe Flash Bulder 4.7, and has been the talk of the town for a LONG while. Falcon is said to be much faster and extensive. The current version is not complete, and will...
